It’s Never Been Easier to Go Green!

Many Southland residents are under the mistaken impression that plumbers, plumbing fixtures and the plumbing repair process are virtually the same today as they were 30-40 years ago, but nothing could be further from the truth.

The plumbing industry today looks nothing like it did 30-40 years ago. Over the last 10-15 years, advanced technology and an ever growing number of plumbing innovations has given the plumbing industry and the plumbing repair process a much needed face-lift that benefited consumers and plumbers alike.

New technology and innovative plumbing solutions had a positive effect on the plumbing industry as a whole, but the affect it had on individual plumbing categories or marketing segments varied widely.

Most experts believe the largest beneficiary of new technology and innovation in the plumbing industry has been Green or Eco-Friendly Plumbing. In the past, “green” or “eco-friendly” fixtures and products were more expensive, less functional and were less than optimal from a performance standpoint.

Advancements in technology have dramatically changed the today’s plumbing landscape and our nations commitment to cleaning up our environment has led to the development of thousands upon thousands of green eco-friendly alternative plumbing fixtures and products that are competitively priced, designer stylish and produce similar if not better results than traditional fixtures and methods.

FORD’S Plumbing & Heating has provided Southland residential and commercial customers with professional, reliable and quality plumbing and heating services at affordable prices since 1963. Four generations of FORD’S call the Southland home and we take an active role in sharing our “eco-friendly” knowledge based and real world plumbing experiences with our neighbors and customers throughout the Southland.

The fact is, no effort to help our environment is too small and the green eco-friendly plumbing services, fixtures and products that we offer our customers do help save our national resources.

FORD’S Plumbing & Heating offers a wide variety of green eco-friendly, energy efficient and water saving toilets, faucets, shower heads, tankless water heaters and Whole House Water Filtration Systems etc… We’ve taken the liberty of listing some of our favorite eco-friendly water saving plumbing fixtures below:

  • Tankless Water Heating Systems – Conventional tanked water heaters use a considerable amount of energy to keep the tank of water hot all day, whether you need it or not. Tankless water heaters heat the water on demand as you use it, and require far less energy than a tanked water heater.
  • Energy Efficient Low-Flow Toilets and Urinals – New and improved high-efficiency toilets use less than 1.3 gallons per flush which is at least 60% less than older, less efficient toilets. Compared to a 3.5 gallons per flush toilet, an eco-friendly toilet can save a family of four more than $90 annually on their water bill and $2,000 over the lifetime of the toilet.
  • Energy Efficient Water Saving Faucets – Good low-flow water-saving faucets conserve water with high-efficiency.over the lifetime of the toilet.
  • Energy Efficient Low-flow Shower Heads – When it comes to getting clean, a shower is a more water-efficient option than a bath. To make your shower even more efficient install a low-flow showerhead. A standard showerhead averages 4.5 gallons per minute. Low-flow showerheads reduce water consumption to 2.5 gallons per minute or less. Manufacturers have found ways to reduce water use without sacrificing water pressure, so you won’t even notice how much money you saved on your water bill.
  • Irrigation Systems – Consider installing an automatic rain shut-off switch for your sprinkler system. These inexpensive devices sense rain and turn the sprinkler system off automatically to save water.per minute or less. Manufacturers have found ways to reduce water use without sacrificing water pressure, so you won’t even notice how much money you saved on your water bill.

Using water efficient plumbing products, the average American can reduce their daily water usage from 70 to 43 gallons and a family of four would save 39,000 gallons of water per year. There are plenty of other ways the average homeowner can conserve water and reduce their monthly water bill. Fixing even the smallest leak or home faucet drip can save an enormous amount of water. One leaky faucet, leaking at a rate of 60 drips per minute, wastes over 2,000 gallons of water annually .

It’s easier than ever for environmentally conscious customers to find green eco-friendly plumbing fixtures and products. We encourage you call us at 310-815-1515 to learn more about FORD’S green eco-friendly energy efficient and water saving fixtures and products.
